Biography of the British King George VI (father of today's Queen Elizabeth II) and his lifelong struggle to overcome his speech impediment. The young Prince Albert suffered from a stuttering since his fourth or fifth year and was afraid of any public speech. History reports that his speech at the conclusion of the 1925 Commonwealth exhibition in London was difficult for him as well as for all listeners on that day. He tried many different therapies over many years, but it was not until he met Lionel Logue, a speech therapist, that he really made progress. Logue had not completed any medical studies, but had been active as a speech trainer in the theater and had worked with shocked soldiers after the First World War. Through a variety of techniques and much hard work, Albert learns to speak the way it should.
